Gol IL was one of 37 clubs from Norway that had teams playing during Hallingcup 2018. They participated with 16 teams in all categories except Gutter 6/7 (3v3) and Jenter 11 (7v7). Two teams played until Bronze match in A-sluttspill; Jenter 13 (9v9 stor) J13 won over Nordsiden-Askøy IL J13, Nordsiden/Apollo by 1-0 and Gutter U16 (11v11) Gol G16/15 won over Skjetten G16 by 1-0.
In addition to this, Gol IL have participated in Hallingcup before. During Hallingcup 2017, Gol had 8 teams playing in G10, G8, J13/14 and J8 respectively. The team in J13/14 made it to the the Final in A-sluttspill, but lost it against Ål IL , Ål fotballgruppe J14 by 1-3. Gol originates from Gol, which is the same city as where Hallingcup takes place. The area around Gol does also provide four additional clubs participating during Hallingcup 2018 (Nesbyen IL, Hemsedal IL, Gol Sentrum City and Uvdal IL).
